TUNA, SUSHI & WINE FESTIVAL 2018.

Zadar Tourist Board, in collaboration with City of Zadar, Embassy of Japan in Croatia, Croatian Ministry of Tourism, Croatian National Tourist Board, Croatian Chamber of Commerce, Zadar County Tourist Board and NPO JCEA Japanese-Croatian Exchange Association, is pleased to announce the programme of Tuna, Sushi & Wine Festival 2018 which will be held from 2nd to 11th February 2018.

This year’s festival, fourth so far, presents a combination and exchange of experiences of cultural, historical, gastronomic and natural Croatian and Japanese resources.

The festival is divided into two parts, the professional part of the programme and the public one:

The festival programme open to the public includes a gala opening event event in the Arsenal, origami workshops in collaboration with the Croatian Origami Society at the Archaeological Museum of Zadar, presentation of traditional Japanese martial and defensive arts and skills performed by Zadar sports clubs, lectures and a photo exhibition at the Rector’s Palace, eno-gastro market in the atrium of the Cedulin Palace,. The programme is supported by Zadar restaurants, which will offer tuna and other fish specialties for the duration of the Festival.

The professional section includes education and professional in culinary arts by the Croatian chef David Skoko and accompanied by the students of Zadar School of Hospitality, Tourism and Catering. A tour of Zadar and Zadar County is planned for Japanese and Croatian guests and journalists.

    A GALA EVENING EVENT IN THE ARSENAL AT 8 P.M.
    Music and stage program with Luka Bulic and Jeremiah's band, live cooking show with top Croatian chef Hrvoje Zirojević and Josip Vrsaljko, buffet dinner with tuna specialties and other quality Adriatic fish and finally performance of ikebana in ice by Japanese master Kazuyuki Nihashi.
    Tickets can be purchased at the Eventim online system and at the Tourist Information Center at Cedulin Palace in Zadar.

  • SATURDAY, 3rd FEBRUARY 2018

    - Photo exhibition "Fantastic Tuna" at the Rector’s Palace
    - Grand opening of ENO-GASTRO MARKET at 11 a.m. in the atrium of the Cedulin Palace. Live concert of the Japanese jazz singer Minami Kayoko accompanied by the Croatian duo Black Coffee.
    - The eno-gastro market will be open from 3rd to 10th February 2018 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. with a daily music programme

    Presentation of traditional Japanese martial and defensive arts and skills performed by Zadar sports clubs
    - Presentation of the samurai bow and arrow skills in collaboration with the
    Kyudo club Yumi
    - Presentation of Aikido defence martial art in collaboration with the

    - Presentation of Kendo defence martial art in collaboration with the

    The professional section of the Festival:
    * One-day training at the Falkensteiner Club Funimation Borik Hotel on 5th February 2018 on how to use Adriatic other fish in local gastronomy. The lecturer is one of the great contemporary culinary connoisseurs, best known for his love of fish, Mr David Skoko.
    * Participants need to fill in an Application Form on the official Zadar Tourist Board website and pay a participation fee (the maximum number of participants is 15 per day)
    * Training will take place from 4 to 8 p.m.

  • TUESDAY, 6th FEBRUARY 2018

    - Public lecture by dr.sc.Kristina Mišlov-Jelavić PhD at the Rector’s Palace on subject of Croatian Tuna. Free entrance!

2.-11. FEBRUARY 2018 - RECTOR'S PALACE - PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION "FANTASTIC TUNA" BY MARIO KUČERA - FREE ENTRANCE

The author of the exhibition Mario Kučera was born in 1967 in the city of Slavonski Brod in Croatia. Although he has been infected with photographs already in elementary school, with the arrival in Zagreb, where he enrolls in history studies, he begins to practice photography more intensely. The first professional photographs of war zones were published in important Croatian and foreign newspapers. He is employed in the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the Republic of Croatia, and is engaged in several leading newspapers and magazines.

Kučera does not choose what he will photograph, but during years of intense professional and artistic work, he profiled primarily in portraiture photography and food photography. Photo is the medium through through which Kučera expresses in a unique way. Besides working in one of the most notable weekly magazines in Croatia, Gloria, as well as many other editions and magazines, he is also involved in various art projects and is regularly exhibiting at solo and group exhibitions.
Currently lives and works in Zagreb.

* Music programme with the band Jeremiah's, a group of groove enthusiasts, who have been keeping the same mission since 2011: a deep-seated blues mantra; decorated with funk and rock-reinforced. Jeremiah's is this year's winner of the Croatian Blues Challenge in the band category. In January 2018 the band will feature Croatia with it's authoring songs at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee
